It can be a challenge to keep kids amused over the holidays, but this Easter we’ve found a wide range of events for kids of all abilities and with various interests in Ealing and West London.  And some of the events are free! Take a look…

5-21 April EASTER AT LONDON WETLAND CENTRE

How can you resist little fuzzy ducklings? You just can’t. Resistance is futile.  So you might as well join in on the fun at the London Wetlands Centre.  Kids can meet the newly hatched ducks who live at the centre and learn how they develop from eggs. Then get all creative with an Easter art session to create a duckling puzzle or decorate an egg. Kids can also indulge their love of all things creepy crawly by spotting bugs or trying some pond dipping. Activities are included in the admission price.

5-22 Charlie’s Chocolate Adventure at Kew Gardens

Like chocolate? Check. Like face painting? Check. Like roaming around being an explorer? Check. You name a kid-friendly activity, Kew Gardens has got it this Easter holiday.  Join Kew in celebrating 50 whipple-scrumptious years of Charlie Bucket and Willy Wonka.. Activities are brought to you in partnership with the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre and include a catalogue of delights of delights spread over 2 weeks.  The chocolate bar workshop looks pretty tempting….

7-9 April MASQUERADE MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOPS: THE LION KING 3 DAY EASTER WORKSHOP

Masquerade workshops

Have you got a star in the making?  Masquerade Theatre Arts offers classes in singing, drama and dance.  From 10am-3pm each day, sing the sensational songs of this smash hit musical, dance the rhythmical dances, explore & fall in love with the characters of Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Timon and Pumbaa in a special three day workshop not to be missed! On the final day students will get arty making their own masks to help aid their performances.  This workship is suitable for children aged 7-18 YEARS

7-9 April MASQUERADE MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOPS: ALICE IN WONDERLAND & THE MAD HATTER’S TEA PARTY 3 DAY EASTER WORKSHOP

Geared toward children 4-6 years old this workshop will follow Alice down the rabbit hole where a fantasy world of peculiar delights awaits.  Meeting popular characters such as the Mad Hatter, White Rabbit & March Hare children's imaginations will run wild whilst singing fantastic songs and dancing wonderful dances.  The magic takes place 10am-1pm each day.

7-17 April LOG CABIN HOLIDAY PLAYSCHEMES

The Log Cabin can provide places for around 55 children and young people per day particularly for children with disabilities or additional needs, including some children who require 1:1 care.  Children can participate in a wide range of activities (suitable to the age and needs of the children). The children can also enjoy trips to other local playgrounds, museums, parks, swimming etc.  Transport to and from the Playground can be provided where necessary for children with additional needs and disabilities whose parents or carers are unable to bring them. We are unable to provide transport for children booked for the extended day.  Children must be registered in order to attend the Playschemes.  A normal day runs from 9.30am – 3.30pm and an extended day from 8.30am – 5.45pm.

How much does it cost? For parents and carers of children with additional needs, funding may be available from Social Services.  Please contact your Social Worker to find out if you are eligible for short breaks provided by the Log Cabin.

Sports and physical activities for kids in Ealing that can help them to build confidence in a safe and secure environment.

7-17 April KIDS COOKERY SCHOOL HOLIDAY CLASSES

Kids cookery classes Easter holidays 2014 in Ealing

From the KCS purpose-built teaching kitchens in Acton, West London, kids can get hands-on with cookery and learn how to make healthy food while having fun.  KCS welcomes children with special needs (physical, learning or behavioural) and their premises are fully wheelchair accessible. During the Easter holidays there is a full schedule of classes and workshops available.  Check out the website for more detail:  Please email info@thekidscookeryschool.co.uk or call 0208 992 8882 to book a place on one of the Easter holiday sessions.  KCS also offers assisted spaces for those in receipt of child tax credit or income support the assisted rate for workshops is (£12.00) and Classes (£7).

How much does it cost? Workshops are priced at £32 a session and run for 2 hours 30 minutes. 
Classes are priced at £17 a session and run for 1 hour 15 minutes.

8 & 15 April CRAFT ACTIVITY SESSION DURING THE HALF TERM & EASTER HOLIDAYS

Taught by Clare McKnight these fun and creative sessions are fully supervised and non messy! Recommended for ages 6 +. Workshops take place in Clare's home in West London.  Morning refreshments are provided, but childen must have a packed lunch.  Workshops that still have places include 8th April A Pretty egg-cellent Home and 15th April Hanging Easter Decoration

Kindermusik Easter Activity for kids

It can rain, it can shine, but it is always fun to play, sing and dance together! Join us for a playdate around the theme Flowers and Farm Animals!  This event runs from 10-11:45am and is suitable for children newborn to Year 1.

18 April (Good Friday) EASTER GARDEN MAKING AT ST BARNABAS IN EALING

An excuse to get your hands dirty and have fun doing it – St Barnabas Church in Pitshanger will be hosting an Easter Garden Making day for families & young children at 3:30 pm on Good Friday. This event is free so why not stop along and see how green fingered you really are?

8-19 April PONY DAYS AT EALING RIDING SCHOOL

And what kid has not asked if they can have a pony?  Well for a whole day from 10am-4pm you can give your kids of 5 years and up the opportunity to ride a pony.  They’ll learn about stable management and get riding instruction, but you’ll probably have won the kids over at one mention of “pony” – such is the effect of Pony Daze (Days).  You’ll need to send your kids with a packed lunch and the right clothing and shoes.

18-21 April KENSINGTON PALACE EASTER EGG HUNT

Kensington Palace Easter Egg Hunt 2014

The question of "Will we see Will, Kate & George?" might be almost as exciting a mystery as where are the eggs hidden. Whether or not the royals make an appearance there is certainly enough entertainment at Kensington Palace to keep kids amused.  Hunt down a secret code for a chocolate prize, follow a trail through the beautiful palace gardens and meet the Georgian royal court. The Easter Egg Hunt is included in the entry price and is aimed at children aged 7-11. There will also be live performance and storytelling over the weekend.  Any budding young designers can be inspired by the costumes of Kensington Palace and create their own Easter bonnet with the entries being judged at 3pm on each day and prizes awarded.  Could you create a bonnet that Kate would wear?
