This Thursday I’ll mostly be running around Ealing Broadway while being chased by the undead

27 Oct 2014

On Thursday October 30th at 7pm, you’ll find me high-tailing it around the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre trying NOT to be captured by zombies.

Jog-On-Halloween-UPLOAD

So, admittedly they won’t be real flesh-eating, brain munching zombies – they’ll be spooky volunteers who along with Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre, the lovely folks at The Ealing Half Marathon and the team here at Northfields will be scaring up as much money for our nominated charity The Log Cabin as we possibly can in one fun-filled night.

The Log Cabin is a local charity that Northfield has been supporting for many years.  This Ealing charity provides opportunities for children with additional needs or disabilities to socialise and play, while giving their parents and carers respite. Click here to find out more about what The Log Cabin does to support Ealing's children, parents and carers.

Our CEO Richard Palfreeman (who will be a zombie on the 30th October) is a trustee on the board at The Log Cabin.  Not only that but we give a percentage of our fees to continue to support the Log Cabin in the excellent work they do for our community.

Whenever we get the chance to organise or participate in events that are raising money for The Log Cabin we always jump at the chance – and this event looks set to make us jump out of our skins!

Jog on with Zombies in Ealing Broadway

If you want to participate in this event you have a few options:

1. Be a runner

The race is only 2km and will be run through the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre with zombies and other scary types wandering about.  The expert folk at Ealing Half Marathon are helping to organise the event. Entry to the event is just £7.50 with all profits going to Ealing based children's charity The Log Cabin.

Sign up now while you still can: http://www.ealingbroadwayshopping.co.uk/content/halloween-jog-on2k

2. Be a zombie volunteer

If you would like to take part but don't want to run, come and join us by volunteering as a zombie.  Or if you’d prefer you can be a werewolf, vampire, witch and or any other creepy crawly you’d like in order to motivate those runners to head for the finish line.  There is a prize for the best costume and a goodie bag for zombie volunteers.

3. Be a marshal

If you are not into running nor being a zombie but still want to help raise money for The Log Cabin, then don a high-vis vest and rally the runners and zombies so they all stay on course on the night.

If you are interested in being a marshal, email us and we’ll forward your details.

What to expect on the night

The event will begin in Town Square at 7.00pm on Thursday 30 October with race start times at 7.00pm, 7.20pm and 7.40pm.

Entertainment will be provided by West Side Radio, Virgin Active and other stores from the centre. Runners are encouraged to dress up the “get into the (disembodied) spirit of things”.

The Nitty Gritty:

1. You must be 17 on race day to enter.

2. Start and finish is in the main square of the shopping centre.

3. Start time is 19:00pm.

4. Bag storage will be provided.

What if you can’t make it on Thursday October 30th?

Keep Calm and Get Your Zombie On

I'm Colleen, Marketing Manager at Northfields and I hope to see you on Thursday at the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre for this “fang-tastic” event.  I’ll be the one running and screaming for the finish-line while being pursued by the zombie-fied versions of my colleagues.  It’s going to be scream.
