Stacks of fun: Where to celebrate Pancake Day in Ealing with these special Shrove Tuesday events

1 Mar 2014

Tuesday March 4th is Pancake Day and the official countdown to Easter begins.  We’ve rounded up some of the spots in Ealing where you’ll find special Pancake Day events! Pass the syrup!

Here is our pick of the top 4 places in Ealing to celebrate Pancake Day:

The “Almost Famous” choice

Maggies – @maggiescafebar        Ealing Broadway

Maggies Café and Bar is hosting a special “Pimp your Pancake” event.  Create your own personal stack for a chance to see it on the menu for the week!  So get your creative juices flowing, it’s not every day your pancake creation will be made famous.

Where to find it: Maggie's Vintage Beats & Breakfast, 39-41 New Broadway, Ealing, London W5 5AH. Phone 0208 840 8308

The charity choice

The Plough - @ploughinnealing        Northfields

This friendly neighbourhood pub with a real fire and a family atmosphere will be doing a “Man vs Pancake” event to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes, a charity to help those who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts. The person with the fastest time to 'chow' down 10 x 7" pancakes will win a £40 bar tab to spend at The Plough Inn Ealing. There will also be 50p Raffle Tickets to win a £20 bar tab to spend at The Plough Inn Ealing. Book your space by calling 0208 567 1416.  Ticket entry is only £5 per person.  Best excuse to eat pancakes that I’ve ever heard of!

Where to find it: The Plough Inn, 297 Northfield Avenue, Ealing, London, W5 4XB, at the end of Northfield Avenue at the junction of Windmill Road and Little Ealing Lane

The community choice for the whole family

St Barnabas Church - @Barnabites                           Pitshanger

StBarnabas pancake day

Given the tremendous community spirit in Pitshanger, it’s no surprise that St Barnabas Church in Pitshanger will be hosting a special Pancake Day.  Geared to the young and the old, at £4 for adults and £2 for children this event looks set to be as inexpensive as it is welcoming.  There will be games for adults and children as well as – you guessed it – pancakes. From 6:30pm – 8pm.

Where to find it:  St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane, Ealing, London W5 1QG, at the end of Pitshanger Lane

The choice for kids

W7 Emporium - @w7emporium        Hanwell

W7 Emporium the artisanal deli, kitchen and hub for special events in Hanwell is hosting an after school Pancake Day event for kids.  Starting at 3:30pm, there will be tons of toppings for kids and grown-ups alike to choose from!

Where to find it: W7 Emporium, Boston Road, Olde Hanwell, W7 3TR, 07828 971 200

To borrow a line from the folks at W7 Emporium, we think these events sound like flipping good fun!
