Here at Northfields we love to make the most of social media and this was recognised with a gold award for social media at the Sunday Times awards in 2014. Since then, we have built on this success and would like to share some of our top tips.
Establish a voice for your agency, one that makes you stand out from the rest and keep this consistent across all online platforms. Social media provides a platform for expressing your unique selling points and developing your identity. You can establish yourselves as leading experts in the field by sharing relevant articles and being the first to share new trends. Think about the interest of your audience and share things that will appeal to them but that are also consistent with your brand. Post things that will catch people’s attention, such as photos, infographics, videos, interesting facts or statements. If you share blog articles that a it is a good way to drive traffic towards your website.
Social media offers the opportunity of improving customer service by facilitating conversations with clients and providing customers with a platform for feedback. Replying to queries efficiently could be the difference between securing or losing a prospective client. At Northfields we also have a Live Chat feature on our website that enables us to respond to queries quickly. We launched his feature with our new website in 2015. Our website now uses a WordPress responsive platform with Feefo review integration, in-house content management and video blog facility.
In a crowded market social media is a tool for boosting the search engine optimisation of your website. Prospective buyers or sellers are likely to click on one of the top links of a search engine and social media can increase your chances of being at the top.
The majority of agents are now using social media, don’t get left behind. You can assess what works, or doesn’t work, for your competitors and adapt your campaigns accordingly. Moreover, social media is not just a network for engaging with clients, but also to reach out to other experts to exchange ideas.
We think videos are particularly effective and last year we employed a video company to work on a weekly basis to showcase individual staff stories, to bring market updates and to give an insight into the hard-working yet enjoyable environment of the company. We will be utilising this medium even further during 2016, in particular to highlight the wonderful aspects of our location and to market our properties to our overseas clients.
It is likely that your clients and potential clients are already using social media and it would be a huge waste not to tap into this vast and growing network.
Something we have noticed to be particularly effective in engaging the local community are competitions. You could team up with local organisations or schools, or run competitions on your own and use social media to advertise, post updates and announce winners. This is a fantastic way to advertise your agency and attract more followers on social media. You can have regular competitions that correspond to different times of the year such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter. Engaging with the local school is a good way to increase the number of likes and shares on your page as friends and family members might share the updates.
Encourage all staff to be on board with social media and like and share as much as possible.
