What are you looking for in an Estate Agent?
Selling or renting your house out can be a stressful business. You’re likely to be dealing with your biggest asset and you don’t want to make a mistake by choosing the wrong agent to help you with your transaction.
Think about what’s most important to you. If you’re looking to sell your house:
- Are you looking for a quick sale?
- Are you happy to wait as long as it takes to ensure that you obtain the best possible price?
- Are you looking for a personal approach from your agent: someone who will guide you through the process and hold your hand or is that not particularly important to you?
Whatever approach matters most to you, the key is to ensure that you find a good match with your estate agent.
Where do you start your search?
It’s all very well knowing what sort of estate agent you’re looking for, but how do you go about finding them? Rather than jumping in with both feet and choosing one at random, you need to start with some research. Spending a bit of time at this stage is likely to pay dividends further down the line.

1. How many reviews do they have?
Obviously, the more reviews that a company has, the more likely it is that you can trust the majority opinion. Reviews are like surveys: the more people that are surveyed the more useful the results are likely to be.
2. Have the reviews come through an independent source?
While it would be nice to think that no company would stoop to making up positive reviews, it clearly happens. Therefore, look to see how the reviews have been collected. 3. Are the reviews dated?
