We’re writing this post with the caveat that our first priority is safety. But if you’ve been thinking about moving during lockdown, and are wondering whether you should go for it now, or it would be better to wait, we’ve put together this post to put your mind at ease.

#1 House prices are up

If you’re thinking about selling but want to know the practical implications, according to the House Price Index, in November 2020 house prices in the UK had increased by 7.6% in comparison to the previous year making it a great time to look at selling.

#2 There is huge demand

According to Rightmove statistics, in South West London 36% more people are on the Rightmove website looking at properties compared to the same time last year. Anecdotally, with so many still working from home due to Covid-19 restrictions, many people looking to move at the moment are after extra space, whether that’s in the form of an extra room to turn into an office, or a garden. If you have a one bed flat to sell though, don’t be disheartened. There are also lots of people looking to get themselves on the property ladder as soon as possible, wanting to move away from shared rental accommodation and have their own space.

#3 Removals firms are still allowed to operate

Moving is stressful enough as it is, without worrying you’ll have to move all of your possessions by yourself. The good news is, removals firms are still allowed to operate following government guidelines and restrictions, so you won’t be left to your own devices.

#4 Relocation, relocation, relocation

And moving on from point 3, maybe you’re someone looking to relocate to get the benefit of more space, whether that be indoors or outdoors. If you’re looking to move further afield, we’re actually a member of the Relocation Agent Network (RAN). We have links with other trusted RAN agents across the UK who we can put you in touch with if you’re looking to move further afield to help your move go seamlessly.

#5 Virtual viewings

Whilst trying to minimize person-person contact as much as possible, virtual viewings have been absolutely brilliant. If you’re not quite sure what you’re looking for, you can look round as many properties as you need to get clear ideas of your likes and dislikes – all from the comfort of your own home (and who doesn’t want to view homes in their slippers with a cup of tea in hand!)

We’re still operating in this current lockdown, and the safety of both our customers and the team is absolutely paramount. If you’d like to learn more, please read our post on the matter here. If you’re thinking of moving, whether to another property in the local area or relocating further afield, please do get in touch with us – we’re still here, ready to help.
